Euastrum pulchellum L.A. de Brébisson 1856

Lower half of semicells quadrate with retuse sides, upper half subrectangular with the sides slightly tapering to the apex. Apex with a deep, open incision. Apical angles with significant dentition. Basal angles rounded often supporting a small tooth. Sinus deep and closed for the most part. Above the isthmus is a large protuberance comprising three verrucae in a rounded triangular shape. There are two oval scrobiculae, one each side.
Cell dimensions: L: 30-43 µm; B: 26-33 µm; Is: 6.5-8 µm; Th: 19-22 µm; L/B: 1.28-1.55.
Found in acidic moorland pools and bogs.
