Staurastrum sibiricum O. Borge 1891
First described and illustrated by Borge (1891: 9, fig. 4). Similar in shape to Staurastrum pachyrhynchum but smaller.
Cell dimensions: L: 13-25 µm; B: 15-24 µm; Is: 8-10-5 µm.
Described as an acidophile, but possibly more tolerant of circumneutral waters. A rare Arctic species of little-known distribution in Scotland.
