Netrium latum (F. Hustedt) Coesel, P.F.M. & Meesters, K.J. 2023
First described and illustrated by Hustedt (1911: 314, fig. 5) as Netrium digitus var. latum. Very recently it was raised to species rank by Coesel & Meesters (2023: 25, pl. 5: 1-2). In fresh specimens, the chloroplast’ fringes are notched.
Cell dimensions: L: 181-263 µm; B: 88-110 µm, L/B: 2.06-2.39.
A relatively common and variable species, found in acidic habitats such as Sphagnum bogs.
