Cosmarium phaseolus var. elevatum  C.F.O. Nordstedt 1873

Differs from the nominate variety in have a papilla on either side, which is best seen in side or apical view.
Cell dimensions: L: 24-35 µm, B: 22-32 µm, Is. 7-10 µm; Th. 13-15 µm L/B: 1.07-1.11.
Found in circumneutral waters such as lochs, moorland pools and abandoned peat-cuttings. Commoner than the nominate variety.
