Phylum: Charophyta Family: Mesotaeniaceae
Cylindrocystis brebissonii var. turgida W. Schmidle 1895
This variety was first named and illustrated by Schmidle (1895: 309, pl.14: 15). It differs from the nominate variety by being broader with a lower L/B ratio.
Cell dimensions: L: 36-67(-102) µm; B: 18-24(-29) µm; L/B: 1.3-4.2.
Although the nominate variety is common in peaty pools, especially with Sphagnum, this variety is proving to be quite scarce.
