Staurastrum kouwetsii P.F.M. Coesel, 1996

First described and illustrated by Coesel (1996: 22, figs 18-19). There are similar species but they can usually be separated on size, and the length and density of the spines.
Cell dimensions: L: 40-48 µm; B: 43-48 µm; Is: 10-15 µm.
Fairly common in acidic moorland pools and bogs.
