Netrium pseudactinotaenium P.F.M. Coesel 2002

Cells fusiform to elliptic or subcylindric, with broadly rounded poles. Two axial chloroplasts per cell, each supporting a large central pyrenoid and two to three longitudinal ridges visible in face view. Vegetated cells suggest the presence of distinct cell-wall pores. However, when viewed in formaldehyde-fixed condition there is no trace of punctation suggesting a protoplasmic origin.
Cell dimensions: L: 37-60 µm; B: 20-24 µm; L/B: 1.9-2.3.
Found with Sphagnum – its distribution is unclear as it has probably been misidentified as an Actinotaenium in the past.
