Tortitaenia trabeculata (A. Braun) A.J. Brook 1998
First described by Braun in Rabenhorst (1856: 543). as Spirotaenia trabeculata. Later moved by Brook (1998: 146) to Tortitaenia. Cells are subcylindrical with the chloroplast ridges less strongly spiralled (not always easy to see).
Cell dimensions: L: 140-240 µm; B: 19-30 µm; L/B: 3-8.
A rare species found in moorland bogs and abandoned peat-cuttings.
