Microspora floccosa (J.-P. É. Vaucher) G. Thuret 1850

First described and illustrated by Vaucher (1803: 131, pl. 16: 3) as Prolifera floccosa. It was later moved by Thuret (1850: 222) to its current position. Noted for its net-like chloroplasts.
Cell dimensions: L. 15-55 µm; B. 10-22 µm.
Common in ponds and drinking troughs, where it forms dense tangled masses.
