Chlamydomonas mutabilis J. Gerloff 1940
First described and illustrated by Gerloff (1940: 396, 459, figs 41-42). The single pyrenoid in this species is almost central.
Cell dimensions: L: 17-25 µm; B: 8-15 µm.
Found in acidic conditions such as moorland pools and abandoned peat-cuttings. Status in the Outer Hebrides is unclear, probably under-recorded.
