Oedogonium boscii V.B. Wittrock ex K.E. Hirn 1899
First described and illustrated by Wittrock in Hirn (1900: 122, pl. 13: 73-74). A strikingly large oogonium with striations.
Dimensions: cells: L: 111-142 x B: 10-19 µm. Oogonia: L: 75-110 x B: 39-51 µm; Oospores: L: 51-70 µm; B: 36-50 µm.
Found in moorland pools and disused peat-cuttings. Infrequently recorded in the Outer Hebrides.
