Monoraphidium griffithii (M.J. Berkeley) J. Komárková-Legnerová 1969
First described and illustrated by Berkeley (1854: 247, pl. 24: 14) as Closterium griffithii in consideration of its similarity to the desmid genus. It was later moved to its current genus by Komárková-Legnerová (1969: 97, 98, pl. 11: 1-4).
Cell dimensions: L: 50-72 µm. B: 2-4.5 µm.
Found in plankton and with marginal-vegetation of lochs, pools, and ditches.
