Characiopsis acuta (A. Braun) A. Borzì 1895
First described and illustrated by Braun (1855: 41, pl. 5: C) as Characium acutum. It was later moved to its current position by (Borzì 1895: 153). One of numerous algae that grow attached to filamentous algae and other substrates.
Cell dimensions: L: 15-28 µm; B: 6-11 µm.
Probably widespread but infrequently recorded due to its small size. Found in circum-neutral waters with aquatics.
