Heterosiphonia plumosa (Ellis) Batters, 1902
A much branched species giving a bushy appearance. Crimson from a distance but paler in close up. Found in low water rock pools and sub-tidal, growing on rocks and epiphitic on other seaweeds. Virtually all Outer Hebridean records have be recorded from the east coast
